Why does the dashboard counter differ for infections detected and files quarantined?

The Infections counter in the dashboard gets updated as soon as the endpoint detects an infection however the quarantined counter does not increment until the endpoint 

has quarantined the file and submitted this event to the cloud server. 

Both of these processes create a unique event and write to the database at different intervals. 



In the example above the quarantine event may not have been happened yet or the endpoint may not have sent these logs to the database.
