How to upload or add users to iSherriff to deploy policies? 

 

This article lists the steps to show different ways to add/upload users to iSherriff for policy deployment.


METHOD 1:

  • Login to Cloud Console.
  • Go to Filter Management.
  • Click on User Management.
  • Go to Users.
  • Under Users, add all the details for the user which are: Login Name, Email Address, Given name, Surname, and Group.



METHOD 2:

  • Login to Cloud Console.
  • Go to Filter Management.
  • Click on User Management.
  • Go to Users.
  • Create a CSV file in the following format:

Login Name, Password, Email Address, Given Name, Surname, Group.

  • Upload the file with the option on the same screen. Figure as below:



METHOD 3:

There are further 2 ways to add the users through Directory Services.


A. Adding all the details of the Hosted Server by going through the following option.

  • Login to Cloud.
  • Go to Filter Management.
  • Click on User Management.
  • Go to Directory Services.

  • Under Directory Hosts, click New.

And, fill all the details of the Directory Services server as shown below:

Note

The LDAP port number 389 should be opened for the authentication. LDAP port should always be opened on the company's firewall.
Many administrators would not want the LDAP port to be opened for security reasons. In such cases, refer to Method 2 above.



Not only Active Directory, the other directory services are also included which are: Oracle Internet Directory, Novell eDirectory, Open LDAP, Sun Java System Directory Server, Apple's Open Directory, Lotus Domino, and other Directory services.


B. We can use the Remote Synchronization Tool dedicatedly for the AD users. Since most of the Directory Services are used by the Administrator is Active Directory (AD).

To download the tool:

  • Login to Cloud.
  • Go to Filter Management.
  • Click on User Management.
  • Under Remote Synchronization, check mark the "Remote Synchronization Allowed".
  • Give it a Connection Passphrase (for the synchronization of the tool with the cloud).
  • Save the details and download the tool by clicking on the "Download Remote Tool" option.
